Cookie Notice

Last updated: 11 September 2026

This site sets one cookie, only when you are signed in, and it is the one that keeps you signed in. That is why there is no cookie pop-up.

The short version

This site sets one cookie, only when you are signed in, and it is the one that keeps you signed in. That is why there is no cookie pop-up.

The slightly longer version

Every cookie this site sets
CookieWhat it doesHow long
Supabase authentication sessionKeeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it you would have to enter your password on every page.Until you sign out or it expires

Because that cookie is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, namely being logged in, UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) does not require us to ask your permission for it. So we do not, and there is no banner to dismiss.

What we do not do

We do not use:

  • advertising or targeting cookies
  • Google Analytics, or any other third-party analytics service
  • a Meta Pixel, or any other social media tracking tag
  • any cookie or identifier that lets us recognise you across different days

How we count visitors without a cookie

We do keep basic statistics about which pages are popular. Most sites do this with a cookie that follows you. We do it differently.

When you load a page, we combine your IP address and browser type with a secret number, and store only the one-way fingerprint that comes out. The secret number changes every night, and the old one is destroyed.

That gives us a rough count of how many separate people visited on a given day, and makes it impossible to connect your visit today with your visit tomorrow. Not difficult: impossible, including for us.

Your IP address is never stored. It goes into the fingerprint and is discarded.

Where you arrived from, we keep only the website name, www.google.com for example, never the full address, so we never see what you searched for.

These records are deleted after 90 days, leaving only daily totals that contain nothing about individuals.

If this ever changes

If we add advertising or third-party analytics, we will ask your permission first, with a proper choice where refusing is as easy as accepting, and nothing will load until you have chosen.
